Toward New Research in the Humanities, Based on a Long History and Tradition

Since its establishment in 1951, the Keio University Graduate School of Letters has made significant contributions to research across the humanities, carrying on the traditions of renowned scholars such as Junzaburo Nishiwaki and Toshihiko Izutsu.

While internationally developing top-level specialized research that broadly covers the humanities—centered on the four areas of philosophy, history, literature, and library and information science—we contribute to the development of Japanese culture by training researchers with broad education and deep expertise. Furthermore, as seen in the fields of art management, information resource management, and Japanese language education, we have played a major role as an institution for training highly skilled professionals.
