Waseda University Diversity Promotion Office Public Lecture
"Toward a Society Where Each Person's 'Choices' Are Recognized and Respected"

This lecture will feature Ms. Saki Shimamura, a Waseda University alumna. As a certified speech-language-hearing therapist who is herself hard of hearing, she is involved in activities to support people with disabilities and life challenges while exploring ways of working that leverage her dual perspective as both a person with hearing loss and a supporter.

"A World That Is Hard to Hear" × "Research," "Parenting," "Work"...

What do you imagine "a world that is hard to hear" is like? Using "choice" as a keyword, Ms. Shimamura will share her experiences and thoughts on understanding the diverse range of "hearing" within "hearing impairment," the challenges she has faced and overcome, and how she has built her career.

We hope this will be an opportunity for participants to reflect on respecting diverse individualities and realizing an inclusive society.
