Waseda University Gender Equality and Diversity Promotion Project Lecture
"Do You Know the GS Center?"
The Waseda University GS Center (Gender and Sexuality Center) was established in 2017 following a student proposal, becoming "Japan's first office dedicated to supporting LGBT students," and is now in its fifth year.
From its inception, professional staff have worked to create a campus that respects diverse values and ways of life, supporting students with concerns related to gender and sexuality. These staff members will introduce the GS Center's initiatives and activities, with a focus on student support.
We will also hear about "how the GS Center was created," "who was involved and what their aspirations were," and "what motivations have driven their activities to date," in a discussion featuring student staff member Shun D.
We hope this will be an opportunity for participants to reflect on respecting diverse individuality, explore the university's challenges and future prospects, and widely disseminate these ideas both within and outside the university.
