"Thinking about Sustainability from the Campus"
Not a day goes by that we don't hear the word "sustainability," starting with the SDGs. Climate change, species extinction... these topics can be frightening and make us want to look away. We may agree that action is needed, but we might also feel that someone else will take care of it. At SFC, we are taking a step beyond that and have begun to think about campus sustainability, including the use of renewable energy. We will discuss how to engage with sustainability, using familiar places and topics as our theme.
Speakers:
・Ms. Sachiko Tsukahara (Associate Professor, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies)
・Mr. Yosuke Arino (Guest Associate Professor (Part-time), Faculty of Environment and Information Studies; Researcher/Project Leader, Strategic Management Office, Institute for Global Environmental Strategies)
(3) Wednesday, March 1, 14:00-15:30 @ Online
○ Mini-Lecture + Roundtable Discussion
"Body Seminar: 'Facing Cancer, Living with Cancer'"
We are exposed to various external stimuli every day, and over time, the genes in our cells can become damaged, leading to the formation of cancer cells. In Japan, a super-aging society, the era where one in two people will develop cancer in their lifetime is a consequence of "living longer." However, thanks to advances in medical sciences, cancer is no longer an incurable disease. Let's think together from various perspectives on how to face cancer and how to live with it.
Part 1 Mini-Lecture:
Mr. Yuko Kitagawa (Vice-President; Professor of Surgery, School of Medicine)
Part 2 Roundtable Discussion:
In the second half, a roundtable discussion will be held with two additional speakers to discuss the theme from the perspectives of their respective fields of expertise.
Mr. Masatoshi Nara (Professor, Faculty of Letters; Dean, Graduate School of Letters)
Ms. Sachiko Kazakami (Professor, Faculty of Business and Commerce)

○ Seminar
"The Secret to Balancing Work and Caregiving: Get Through Caregiving While Working by Knowing the Basics"
It is often said that the need for caregiving arrives suddenly.
If you shoulder the burden alone, thinking you are the only one who can care for your parents, it could lead to leaving your job. Once you resolve to "keep working," the question becomes how to balance work and caregiving. This seminar will use concrete episodes to share tips on how to tackle caregiving as a project by making good use of long-term care insurance services and support systems, and how to achieve balance in the workplace.
Speaker: Ms. Toyoko Tsunoda (Wiwiw Co., Ltd.)

"Film 'I'm Done Being Your Friend.' (Limited one-week screening) + Talk Session" (Sign language interpretation available)
A troublesome yet precious documentary of individual × individual, heart × heart! Film director Ayako Imamura, who was born deaf, confronts new conflicts. Can people truly understand each other? What are friends? What does it mean to be "normal"? Let's cast off the troublesome "common sense" that binds us and connect our hearts more freely and lightly. It's stinging, it's irritating... but somehow heartwarming. This is a story born from the "differences" between Maachan and me. On the day of the event, a talk session will be held with a Keio faculty member, including behind-the-scenes stories of the production.
* The film will be available for viewing from Thursday, March 2 to Wednesday, March 8 (pre-registration required).
Speakers:
Director Ayako Imamura (Studio AYA)
Mr. Takanobu Nakajima (Professor, Faculty of Business and Commerce)

"'Experiential Dialogue' and the New Symbiotic Society It Creates"
Only by experiencing a world without light and a world without sound can we begin to understand the world in which people with visual and hearing impairments live. Why don't we think together about the new awareness of a symbiotic society that is born from knowing that world and engaging in dialogue with the people who live in it?
