Against the backdrop of the globally advancing trend of open science, various discussions are also underway in Japan. While open science policies have been proposed as a national strategy, there is an urgent need for universities and research institutions to formulate policies, develop infrastructure such as institutional repositories and researcher databases, and train the human resources to provide these services. This event will bring together providers of global services—the academic journal Springer Nature, the research tool figshare (part of the Digital Science Portfolio), and the researcher and publication information provider ORCID. They will provide an overview of global trends and engage in lively discussions with feedback from Japanese stakeholders, aiming to realize and develop the academic communication and platforms necessary to advance open science. The event will feature a keynote speech by Professor Kokuryo of Keio University, as well as other lectures and a panel discussion.
