Overview :
In this lecture, we are pleased to welcome Mr. James A. Lewis from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). He will discuss U.S. policy and its future implications regarding "5G/6G" and supply chain issues in the context of U.S.-China competition.
Biography
■Mr. James A. Lewis
James A. Lewis is a senior vice president and program director at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Before joining CSIS, he was a diplomat and a member of the Senior Executive Service. He worked on a range of political-military issues and was an adviser to two military commands. Lewis negotiated bilateral agreements on transfers of military technology and regional stability, developed groundbreaking policies on satellite remote sensing and encryption, and led the first U.S. delegation to the Wassenaar Arrangement Experts Group.
Lewis was the rapporteur for three UN Groups of Governmental Experts on Information Security, starting with his work in 2010 to use norms and confidence-building measures to build stability in cyberspace. He leads a long-running track 2 dialogue with the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations. Lewis is frequently quoted in the media and has testified numerous times before Congress. He has authored numerous publications since coming to CSIS on cybersecurity, innovation, spectrum management, and international strategy. He is frequently quoted in the media, has addressed the UN Security Council, and has testified numerous times before Congress. He is a distinguished visiting professor at the United States Naval Academy's Center for Cyber Security Studies and received his PhD from the University of Chicago.
