Dialogue Overview:
The special guest is novelist Keiichiro Hirano, whose 2021 book "Honshin" (Bungeishunju) depicts the human heart living in virtual reality in 2040s Japan, centering on the avatar of a deceased mother.
Can the various limitations imposed by our physical bodies and health be overcome by expanding network space? In the society that lies ahead, what will our minds trust and rely on?
His dialogue partner will be Professor Masato Yasui (Keio University School of Medicine), a medical scholar aiming to innovate medicine using virtual twins. Moderated by Professor Tatsuhiko Yamamoto (Keio University Law School and Deputy Director of KGRI), who explores freedom and constraint in an AI society from the perspectives of constitutional and information law, they will discuss Japanese society in 2040.
